External Sleeve Suspension

This system looks like a compression sleeve that covers the prosthetic and rolls onto the amputees thigh.

It is actually attached to the prosthetic and once the device is on the amputee rolls up the sleeve onto their upper leg to create the connection needed to suspend the device.

This sleeve and design can be used asa a primary or secondary method of fastening the socket to the residual limb. Some of these systems also rely on a vacuum created between the sleeve and the underlying socket and limb. As with any system each amputee is different and the system chosen for them depends on the shape of the residual limb, the activity level and the prognosis of the amputee.
